Designer Profile: Janie Collins Interior Design
The following project was a collaboration between BuildCorp, Hassell & Dexus. This display suite is located in Brisbane’s CBD that spans two floors, showcasing the workspace possibilities available for the remaining Dexus levels at 145 Ann Street.
We chat to Paivi Piotto from Janie Collins Interiors about the project.
What did you like about working on this project?
PP: Carolyn Solley from Hassell is always a pleasure to work with & it is lovely to see gorgeous products in a high profile job.
What Studio Pip pieces were used in the project? & why were they selected?
PP: We put forward the Carter lounge because of its aesthetic as well as its price point.
CL: The Carter lounge can be customised to suit each space, enabling a client to select the upholstery they want as well as the powder coat colour of the legs. Because of this, Janie Collins Interiors were able to specify a selection of Carter lounges to complement the impressive, column-free layout. The final selection included the 2100 & 1800 long model upholstered in fabric with a mix of black or white stiletto legs, down the to leg colour.
Why is the Carter lounge suitable for this application?
CL: The Carter consists of a solid timber structure combined with a sprung base that promotes longevity in commercial applications with its even weight distribution and increased air recirculation. The insert combination provides the comfort of feather with the stability & resilience of commercial grade foam.
What upholstery was selected & what properties make it suitable for this project?
CL: The client opted for a Bravo, a textured fabric collection by Zepel Fabrics that showcases their Fibreguard technology. With a Martindale rate of 100,000 & inherent stain free technology, Bravo is perfect for heavy use commercial projects.
What are some of your favourite features of this product?
PP: Reasonable lead times, excellent price point, Australian design & manufactured.
CL: The Carter has beautiful streamlined & contemporary look with its twin needle box border design.
How would you describe working with Studio Pip on this project?
PP: We worked directly with Caroline, Studio Pip’s Brand Manager, who is very friendly, professional, knowledgeable & always helpful.
Studio Pip were happy to be able to provide the clients with a product suitable for their project. The Carter has since been superseded by the Spencer.
