Designer Profile: Advantage Interiors
From a highly successful furniture hire company born over 17 years ago, to a highly successful property styling company today, Advantage Property Styling have been pioneers in Sydney’s Real Estate styling market – and now can add Interior design to their repertoire. We chat with Advantage about one of their latest project, Neutral Bay Penthouse.

Please provide a brief description of your business and the services you offer.
Advantage Interior Design covers the full spectrum of interior design and decoration work from design, specification and documentation for new builds/renovations and complete furnishing and styling for new and established homes. We create beautiful, liveable homes tailored to our clients’ needs, style and budget. The focus is squarely on the lifestyle they want to live and creating spaces they will enjoy for years to come.
Do you have a common theme or style that is showcased in your work? If so, what is it?
Rather than focusing on a certain theme or style, the most important aspect of our design is a clear understanding of our clients’ needs and their own design preferences, tailoring each project’s theme and style to each individual client. Whilst we cater to any style, we personally love contemporary, clean and uncluttered spaces with quality pieces that speak to each clients’ personality.

Where do you find new inspiration for each project?
With every project we start with the home itself and the people occupying it. The architecture and site play a key role in the inspiration for any project. Each project reflects the client’s personality and is inspired by their lifestyle and loves. We also find inspiration in the colour palette of our natural surroundings as well as art and contemporary culture.
How do new clients find you?
Having worked on many incredible projects, we have enjoyed developing great relationships with clients resulting in glowing testimonials and referrals. We are fortunate that our clients have such amazing things to say about working with us and that most of our work comes through word of mouth. Advantage has a strong brand history with property styling, and many clients who have seen the value in having their houses styled then engage us to design their new homes.

Please provide a brief overview about this project
On this project we worked with a lovely couple who downsized, leaving a large family home in the northern suburbs of Sydney to live in a new penthouse with harbour views at Neutral Bay. Having collected a lot of furniture over the years they found that none of their furniture worked in the new space. We wanted to create a bespoke home that met their needs for this next phase in life and the apartment was the perfect blank canvas. The development had already been finished when we started but needed personal touches to make it a home. We personalised and softened the space by adding colour, paint, texture and window coverings. We then completely furnished and styled the entire space and included existing and new pieces of original art, custom leather sofas, marble and custom upholstery. Each design choice was made with our clients’ lifestyle and personality at the forefront.
What was your highlight working on this project?
Being able to create a new chapter in this couple’s life with personalised design and furnishings was the highlight of the project. Working with Studio Pip, we were able to include several custom-made timber furniture pieces using beautiful Tasmanian Oak. These pieces created a nice continuity from one room to the next.

What are your favourite things about Studio Pip?
Having the ability to tailor pieces to the project and client is what we love most. Working alongside Studio Pip we were able to create the perfect pieces for this project that were tailored to the client’s needs and the space. Selecting custom colour and finishes allows for versatility in design projects and supporting Australian makers and designers is always a bonus for us.
What Studio Pip products did you use for this project?
We featured a number of Studio Pip’s custom-made furniture pieces in Tasmanian Oak. The Blake Dining Table was paired with some black oak and leather dining chairs. The Henley Bedside Tables and matching dresser are solid and functional and added texture and warmth, helping to create a cosy master bedroom. The entertainment unit was custom made to fit the space.

What are some of some of your favourite features of these products?
The quality of each of the Studio Pip products is like no other. The clean lines of the design and the quality construction of the custom-made pieces really made each space special.

Please provide any feedback for the sales representative who assisted you with your purchase.
We have loved working alongside Caroline, Sean and the entire team. Seeing how happy our clients are with each piece makes them the perfect choice for any interior project.
