Sustainability
Sustainably Sourced
Studio Pip designs furniture with the best quality products that provide a sustainability profile appropriate for our ethos. We believe in creating durable, ethical, and environmentally responsible furniture and that these pieces are Australian designed and Australian made.
Studio Pip works with Australian based and owned manufacturers for the production of furniture. These manufacturers are encouraged to source sustainable materials if the designs fall outside of our specified optimal material requests.
These manufacturers also use suppliers recommended by us. Approximately 80% of our suppliers of materials are Australian, and they source material from both Australia and overseas.
The following information is based on what we specify to our manufacturers and validated by our suppliers as content of their products:
Foam
100% of the foam used are GECA certified by our supplier.
Feather and Down
100% of the feather and down used are sourced from certified sources: Responsible Down Standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Timber
100% of the timber from certified sustainable sources and have maintained a chain of custody accreditation under Forestry Certification Standards.
Fabric
Our suppliers use 100% of the cotton used is certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard. 100% of the linen in upholstery is certified under OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. 88% of wool and wool blend upholstery are from suppliers compliant with either REACH or Enviromark. 18% of the leather in upholstery is from tanneries certified under the Leather Working Group.
Efficient Manufacturing
Through the use of technology, we have significantly reduced the use of materials in the creation of samples. Our investment in the latest design technology has enabled us to go straight to production, by eliminating a lot of the previous design flaws in the creation of new designs.
If required, we can therefore provide detailed information about a product’s features and construction. This empowers consumers to make informed purchasing decisions aligned with their values.
Circularity
Studio Pip embraces a path toward circularity by creating products that will last a lifetime. Materials are chosen to create pieces of high quality to offer durability and repairability.
Studio Pip is also developing a take-back program to recycle or repurpose furniture, particularly repurposing for charities providing people in crisis with essential home furnishings.
Studio Pip values quality, transparency, and sustainability in the production of our designs. More information about our Sustainability and Circularity Programs and their progress may be addressed to: info@studiopip.com.au
